Renovated Brookmeade Park reopens following homeless camp removal
The park was closed in January 2023 and efforts to remove the homeless camp took months.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - After being closed for two years, Brookmeade Park in West Nashville is finally reopening today.
The park was shut down after a large homeless encampment formed there, leading to unsafe conditions and significant damage to the grounds.
The park went through a major transformation since Metro Parks began cleanup efforts in 2023.
Brookmeade is located at 7004 Charlotte Pike, not far from Walmart.

This park was once home to more than 40 homeless people living in a large encampment. The city was forced to step in and work to find housing solutions and clear the area.
Now, the park is revitalized, giving local residents and visitors a half-mile greenway to enjoy with a scenic overlook along the Cumberland River.
To keep the area safe, Metro Parks installed a new electronic gate and updated security measures.
They are also reminding visitors to keep pets on a leash, stay on trails, and avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles.
Brookmeade Park officially opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday and will be open daily from dawn to dusk.
For anyone planning to visit, overflow parking is available near Lowe’s and Walmart.
