Christmas in July: WSMV4 bike drive aims to make the holidays brighter for Middle TN children

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - With temperatures climbing into the 90s, Christmas may be the last thing on your mind. But now is the perfect time to help make the holidays brighter for children across Middle Tennessee.

The 4th Annual Christmas in July Bike Drive is happening Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, at Academy Sports in Madison. The goal is simple: Collect new bikes and helmets during the summer so they can be given to children in need during the holiday season.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, last year’s event was the most successful yet, collecting a record 105 bikes and 56 helmets. This year, we’re hoping to top that milestone.

If you’re taking advantage of Tennessee’s tax-free weekend, consider adding a new bike or helmet to your shopping list and donating it at the event. Cash donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional bikes and helmets for local children.

As a special thank you, everyone who donates a new bike will receive a collectible Snowbird.
