Metro Nashville Animal Care says it’s at ‘full capacity’ after hoarding cases lead to intake of nearly 3 dozen dogs
Dog intake has been suspended while the center is still accepting cats and kittens.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control says it has temporarily stopped accepting new animals after reaching full capacity.
“After working several hoarding cases, we took in 29 dogs and six puppies last night from the most recent situation alone,” the care center said. “Our intake areas are now at full capacity as our team works quickly to make space and care for every animal in the building.”
The animal care and control service is now encouraging people to visit the center to adopt an animal. They also said they are actively working with local rescues to help alleviate the crowding.
While intake for dogs is temporarily unavailable due to the recent hoarding cases, stray cat and kitten intake will remain open. The center recommends that people who need to report a stray dog do so by posting on Facebook pages, Nextdoor and similar platforms to help locate their owner.
Animal-related emergencies can still be reported to the center by calling 615-862-7928 and leaving a detailed message for officers.
