NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct a rolling roadblock on Interstate 65 North in South Nashville as crews install an overhead sign.
The overhead sign crews will be installing is the one that fell during the deadly January 2026 winter storm.
A semi jackknifed and crashed into the side of the sign in January, causing it to collapse.
The roadblock will be conducted on July 16 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Crews with TDOT will conduct the roadblock from Harding Place to the I-65 and I-40 split.

TDOT said the road work will also close the following on-ramps to I-65 Northbound at the following areas:
- Powell Avenue ramp
- Westbound lane of Armory Drive from Armory Oaks Drive to I-65 northbound on-ramp
- Harding place westbound and eastbound ramps to I-65 northbound
Signage will be put in place to remind and alert drivers of the closures.
TDOT said all of the work is weather-dependent.
“As always, drivers are reminded to allow additional time, slow down, and move over when traveling through a work zone,” TDOT said. “The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee includes the possibility of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $500.”
