2 dead after THP pursuit ends in crash on I-24 in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A traffic stop turned into a pursuit, which ended in a deadly crash on the interstate in South Nashville on Sunday night, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

THP reported that troopers attempted to pull over a vehicle when the driver sped off, leading to a pursuit. That pursuit ended in a crash on I-24 West near Harding Place, and two people were killed, according to THP.

The crash forced a portion of I-24 West to shut down at mile marker 54 for most of the evening.

The closure was necessary for detectives to recreate the deadly crash and for cleanup crews to remove the wreckage from the roadway.
