One person inside the home at the time of the fire sustained injuries, the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department said.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - A home on Elliott Drive in Murfreesboro was deemed ‘unlivable’ after a fire broke out on Tuesday night, according to the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD).
The MFRD said a woman was arriving at the home when she discovered smoke coming from the residence.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the vents of the home and quickly extinguished it to prevent it from spreading to other areas of the structure.
Officials said there was a man inside the home at the time of the fire. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
The MFRD said the Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. Officials said the fire originated on the back porch of the home.
The home was deemed unlivable, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowner.
