SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV) - A road in Smyrna will soon see new posted speed limits following the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s widening project, the town said.
The town established the following limits to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists:
- 40 mph from Nissan Drive to Old Jefferson Pike
- 45 mph from Old Jefferson Pike to I-840
The town announced that new speed limit signage will be installed and completed by around noon on December 16.
The updated speed limits are the result of a comprehensive evaluation of traffic operations, roadway design, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations to ensure safe and efficient travel along the corridor. A formal speed study was completed across three roadway segments, the town of Smyrna said in a Facebook post.
