Overturned semi-truck hauling horses closes I-65 in Sumner County
A crash on I-65 has closed both southbound lanes near Exit 98 in Goodlettsville, TDOT said.
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A crash involving an overturned semi-truck has closed a portion of Interstate 65 in Sumner County, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
TDOT said the crash happened in the southbound lanes, just before Exit 98 (Louisville Highway), at 1:41 p.m. The truck was hauling horses at the time of the crash, but TDOT said all of the animals are contained.
According to Goodlettsville Fire Department Lieutenant Mike Fuqua, the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries. He also said none of the horses were severely injured, but some did sustained cuts in the crash.
Several agencies responded to the crash including Goodlettsville Fire, Goodlettsville PD and Sumner EMA, Dad’s Towing Service, West Nashville Wrecker Service.
Both southbound lanes are shut down. TDOT said the road is expected to fully reopen at 5 p.m. A diversion has been put in place at mile marker 104.
