NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department announced the arrest of a felon who’s accused of attempting to set a fire at his ex-girlfriend’s house with her and her children inside.

MNPD reports that 46-year-old Lachaunti Williams is jailed on a $750,000 bond after he was arrested by U.S. Marshals and local officers on Church Street for several violent outstanding warrants.

Most recently, Williams was wanted for his involvement in starting a fire at his ex-girlfriend’s house in the middle of the night.

The 46-year-old had been on the run since 2021, when he was charged with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a weapon for shooting at the woman’s home, which police said he admitted to doing while on federal parole. He also allegedly threatened to come back and cause more harm to her and her family.

In September, firefighters responded to the woman’s home after her front and rear doormats were set on fire, causing damage to both doors. Investigators with the Nashville Fire Department determined both were set intentionally.

Williams was seen on surveillance footage at the front door that morning when a large flame was ignited, according to police.

“He was charged with attempted criminal homicide by MNPD and aggravated arson by NFD,” MNPD said.
