NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A group of churches in the Metro Nashville area is working together to make sure everyone can vote in Tuesday’s special primary election.

The effort is called “Souls to the Polls,” which provides free rides for senior citizens and students at Tennessee State University to their voting locations on October 7, until polls close.

“Faith in action means showing up, not just on Sunday, but at the ballot box,” said Pastor Breonus Mitchell at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. “By helping seniors and students get to the polls, we’re not only removing barriers, we’re continuing the legacy of civic leadership that has defined our faith for generations.”

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.

The churches participating in the program are:

  • New Livingstone Baptist Church, Pastor Ronnie Mitchell
  • First Baptist Church Capitol Hill, Pastor Shane Scott
  • Cathedral of Praise, Pastor Jerry L. Maynard II
  • Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Pastor Breonus Mitchell
  • Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Frank Stevenson
  • Soul of America Tours, Fred Whitley

The program was created so seniors and students with limited mobility or resources can still exercise their voting rights, according to the group.
