TN man accused of having more than 50 files of child porn

The man was arrested on Thursday with a bond set at $200,000.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Cookeville Police Department has announced the arrest of a man after more than 50 files of child pornography were allegedly found at his home.

CPD reports that the investigation began in January after child pornography was found to be originating from Putnam County and being distributed online.

A suspect was identified in the investigation after it was found that he was using peer-to-peer file-sharing software to upload illegal content. CPD said that through the investigation, the source of the content was isolated to a home in Baxter.

Shortly after, a search warrant was expected at the home and several electronic devices were seized. Police said a comprehensive digital forensic examination revealed that more than 50 files of child pornography were found.

On May 15, Joseph Patton Hite III was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. He was arrested and received a $200,000 bond.
