Regional tennis facility removed from new Spring Hill community plans
The USTA had previously planned to operate the facility but failed to raise the necessary funds.

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WSMV) - The new Legacy Pointe community project in Spring Hill will be moving forward without a world-class tennis facility after the United States Tennis Association withdrew its proposal this week.
According to SouthStar, the real estate developer behind Legacy Pointe, the USTA pulled out of the project because of an inability to raise the funds necessary to build and operate a regional tennis facility.

The plans were set in motion in 2022 when the city asked SouthStar to include the USTA facility in its proposed development. The facility would have brought local, regional, and national tennis tournaments to the area. The agreement required the USTA to raise several million dollars for the project, which it failed to do.
“We’ve been working with the USTA for almost three years to bring the regional tennis facility to fruition,” said Glenn McGehee, president of SouthStar. “Unfortunately, it’s a tough fundraising environment out there right now and the organization was unable to secure the funds necessary to move forward with the project. We are all disappointed as this project would have been a great addition to Legacy Pointe and the Spring Hill community.

With the USTA project gone, SouthStar is exploring replacement options that would benefit the community. Legacy Pointe is slated to be a 213-acre “mixed-use development” consisting of residential, commercial, office, and green spaces between Crossings Blvd. and Kedron Road.
The development is scheduled for later this year.
