Two dead after a tornado hits East TN

SUNBRIGHT, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is reporting two people died as a result of the storms that moved through on Thursday night.

The county’s emergency management agency confirmed a mother and daughter were killed in their home, and three others were reportedly injured.

The National Weather Service confirmed the damage was caused by an EF-2 tornado with maximum wind speeds of 135 mph that hit Deer Lodge in Morgan County.

Morgan County deputies and emergency personnel are working to provide support to the residents affected by the storm.
