Trees, power lines knocked down by severe storm in Jackson, Putnam Counties
Both counties are reporting damage from Thursday’s storm.

GAINESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Jackson County Emergency Management Agency reports that roads have been blocked following a severe storm that moved through the area Thursday evening.
JCEMA reports that several trees and power lines were knocked down, making travel dangerous in the county.
“The southern areas of our County has been heavily littered with debris. No current injuries are being reported,” JCEMA said.
The Putnam County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office are reporting that there are downed trees and power line in the northern part of the county.
“There is a current power outage for the area of West Wilmoth Rd off of Tommy Dodson Hwy,” PCSO said. PCFD said there is no timeline as to when the power could be restored.
Both agencies are asking people to avoid the Hilham area and that no one travels on Highway 136 or on side roads north of Bangham Road.
JCEMA, PCSO and PCFD are urging residents to be weather-aware and safe if traveling.
“First responders and road crews are working tirelessly to manage the multiple issues present throughout the county,” JCEMA said.
