GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - UPDATE: Newfound Gap Road reopened just after 2 p.m. on Monday, according to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
US 441/Newfound Gap Road between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC is open.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park said Newfound Gap Road is closed because of winter weather.
The road closed Friday afternoon, according to the park.
US 441/Newfound Gap Road between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC remains closed due to ice and snow.

Saturday, the park said the road between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, North Carolina remains closed due to ice and snow.
So far, it is the only road the park is that has closed for winter weather.
