Nashville sets new high temperature record

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville set a new high temperature record on Friday. At 2:24 pm, Nashville International Airport’s temperature reached 87°, shattering the previous record of 84° set in 1973.

Friday was the warmest for Nashville in nearly three weeks. The average high temperature in Nashville is just 70°.

Nashville’s temperature broke into the 80s at 11:00 am. Shortly after sunset, the temperature continued to register in the 80s. The recent very warm weather for the Midstate has been produced by a strong ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere.
