Two workers hospitalized after well drilling causes explosion
FULTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) - Two workers were airlifted to hospitals with life-threatening injuries after an explosion in Fulton County.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the explosion at a property near County Road 18 and County Road F near Wauseon around 2:30 p.m., a sergeant on scene told WTVG.
A crew from Watson Well Drilling Inc. was putting in a new water well for the family at the property to replace an old one. While drilling, the crew hit a possible natural gas pocket, triggering the explosion, officials said.
Two Watson workers received life-threatening injuries and were flown by air ambulance to hospitals, according to authorities.
Two children were inside the house when the explosion occurred, but neither was injured, the sergeant said. No one else was hurt.
