GRAND BLANC, Mich. (Gray News) - A group of 18 coworkers won a $1 million Powerball prize in Michigan.

The Lucky 18 lottery club is a group of 18 coworkers who play the lottery together whenever there is a big jackpot.

“I bought several Powerball tickets for our club and checked them the night of the drawing by scanning them. When one came back as a $1 million winner, I sent out a text to the group with the news, but no one believed me at first. It was a pretty cool experience for everyone once it finally sunk in that it was real!” said Nicholas Stockwell, the club’s representative.

The winning ticket matched the five white balls — 31, 59, 62, 65 and 68 — in the Aug. 20 drawing to win a $1 million prize.

Stockwell said that the club will play Powerball again now that the jackpot is up again.

As of Sunday, the Powerball jackpot stands at $1.1 billion after no one won Saturday’s drawing.
