‘Just horrible’: Woman found dead after Wilson County house fire
Crews spent nearly an hour working to get the fire under control.
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) - A house fire left one person dead Thursday morning, according to The Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
It happened along on East Division Street around 7 a.m.
Authorities say at the time of the fire, a woman was inside of the house, and for an unknown reason, she was not able to get out of the home in time.
First responders report that it took them under an hour to get the fire controlled.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating cause of the fire.
A spokesperson with WCSO said the sheriff’s office will also be looking into if a crime occurred.
Crews were seen canvassing property and collecting evidence over several hours Thursday.
Authorities have not revealed the woman’s identity or said how long an investigation will take.
As the investigation continues, those in area are left shaken up by this tragedy.
“That’s just horrible,” a neighbor reflected. “I know that I’ll be praying for that family, and my family will be praying for that family. If there is anything we can do in Mount Juliet, I know the people here will be giving to them.”
The fire closed East Division Street in the area of Golden Bear Gateway and Old Lebanon Dirt Road while crews investigated, but it has since been reopened.
