Former TN officer, wife charged with child abuse

The investigation was launched after their 3-year-old showed injuries during a custody hearing.

PARIS, Tenn. (WSMV) - A now-former Tennessee police officer and his wife were arrested and charged following an investigation into injuries to their 3-year-old child.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, special agents were brought in to investigate 26-year-old Brian Ray and his wife, 23-year-old Alexandra Elkins, after the Department of Children’s Services discovered injuries to their child during a custody hearing.

A now-former Tennessee police officer and his wife were arrested and charged following an investigation into injuries to their 3-year-old child.

The 24th District Attorney requested the matter be investigated, which led to both Ray’s and Elkins’ arrests. Ray was an officer for the Paris Police Department at the time, but he has since been removed from his position.

Both Ray and Elkins turned themselves in on Monday, April 14, and they were charged with child abuse, neglect, and endangerment. They were booked into Henry County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
