Woman shot multiple times by boyfriend in apparent murder-suicide at Nashville apartment
Police added that the couple had no history of reported domestic violence.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: The Metro Nashville Police Department has released new information in the investigation into an apparent murder-suicide at an apartment on Monday.
MNPD reports that homicide detectives have identified the victim and suspect involved in the incident at an apartment on Glengarry Drive. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Merlin Nataren and the suspect as 27-year-old Jovanni Antonio Machado Portillo.
Police said that Nataren’s family had not been able to contact her since late Sunday night. So, as they arrived at Portillo’s apartment, they found her shot multiple times in the bedroom, dead.
“Portillo died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered from under Portillo’s hand,” MNPD said.
Police added that the couple had no history of reported domestic violence.
Update: The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating an apparent domestic-related murder-suicide at an apartment on Monday afternoon.
MNPD reports that detectives are investigating the incident that occurred at the Axis Apartments on Glengarry Drive.
“A man and woman were discovered before 4 p.m., fatally shot inside the apt bedroom. Investigation ongoing,” MNPD said.
Earlier: The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting on Monday afternoon.
MNPD reports that two people have been found dead following a shooting in the 300 block of Glengarry Drive.
No other information has been released at this time.
