Man accused of stalking women at Bellevue gym
A victim tells WSMV4 he repeatedly sat in the parking lot and watched her before trying to follow her home.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The 23-year-old man accused of stalking women going to and from the Burn Boot Camp in Bellevue is behind bars. Metro Nashville police arrested Jose Martin Carmona Santana after he spent weeks watching women go to the gym and attempting to follow them home.
For safety reasons, the victim didn’t want to go on camera or give her name, but she told us starting two months she repeatedly saw Santana sitting in the parking lot. Every time it was the same - she said he sat in his car, rolled down his window, and stared.
One day he took it further, following her for miles on the highway before she was able to lose him. She told us she was finally able to relax while going to the gym knowing she wouldn’t see him.
Gym member Ashley Westby said that when she heard about this, it was a reminder to be cautious.
“I definitely try to scan the area when I’m taking, especially my kid, to the car, making sure that he’s close,” Westby said, “It’s nerve-wracking, but again, I feel really safe in this area, so I’m glad the proper authorities are handling it, so I have full confidence in them.”
She said all the gym members walked each other to their cars if they felt uneasy.
“I want to just make sure that all the kids are safe, and women are safe, and just keep an eye out around your surroundings,” Westby said.
