Driver charged in crash that killed 2, including child in Murfreesboro
A 35-year-old man and a 5-year-old child both died as a result of the January 27 crash.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Murfreesboro Police Department is charging a man in the deadly crash that killed two people in late January.
On Jan. 27, a Nissan Rogue and a Mazda MZ6 crashed on Middle Tennessee Blvd. near Haley Road. The passenger in the Mazda, 35-year-old Silvio Victor, was killed in the crash. The female driver and a 5-year-old child suffered injuries in the crash.
Both the female driver and a 5-year-old were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where the child remained in critical condition for the next week, according to Murfreesboro PD. The child died five days later, on Feb. 1.

The investigation into the crash continued and Murfreesboro PD’s fatal crash detectives gathered enough evidence to charge the driver of the Rogue, 50-year-old Ewarth Chesney, with two counts of vehicular homicide, and aggravated recklessness.
Chesney was injured in the crash and received treatment at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Detectives had been working to determine if Chesney’s speed was the determining factor in the deadly crash.
