Victor was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was a passenger in the Mazda MZ6, which the child was also trapped inside before being extricated by responding firefighters, according to MPD.
The child and the female driver of the Mazda were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The driver of the other car (a Nissan Rogue) was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
Police believed that the driver of the Rogue was traveling westbound when it collided with the Mazda that was trying to make a left turn. Investigators are looking into whether speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
“The force of the impact caused the Mazda to crash into a car parked in a parking lot,” MPD added. “The fatal crash remains under investigation.”
