NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Murfreesboro Boy Scout troop had about 100 Christmas trees stolen from their fundraiser this week.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 197 reports that thieves disabled security cameras and stole 98 trees from their inventory Sunday night.

“Selling Christmas Trees is the only fundraiser BSA Troop 197, chartered by Fellowship Church, does to help scouts with year-long activities and events. For 19 years scout families have worked all year to plan and prepare, braving the weather to bring fresh Christmas Trees to the Murfreesboro Community,” the troop said.

The troop said they have about 100 trees remaining for sale before closing for the season. “We are desperately hoping to come out ahead, since we didn’t raise prices in these economic times.”

If you would like to support the troop and need a Christmas Tree, please consider stopping by the tree lot in front of Fellowship UMC. We welcome any donations, mailed to BSA Troop 197, Fellowship UMC, 2511 New Salem Hwy, Murfreesboro, TN 37128 OR Venmo: @treasurer197

If you have any information that might help in the investigation of this theft, or would like to donate in other ways, please contact Phil McDonald at 360-904-6153.”
