NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Westmoreland High School senior Mary Atkins was seriously injured in a sledding accident on Sunday, Jan. 21.
The senior was flown to a Nashville hospital where she immediately went into surgery for injuries to her neck and back, according to a GoFundMe, along with social media posts from her church and school.
The GoFundMe, organized by Chris Alexander, has already surpassed its goal of raising $5,000. It currently sits at more than $13,000 as of Monday morning.
“As you can imagine, this will have a very detrimental impact on the family with medical bills and lost time at work. This family has gone through so much these last 6 months so anything that can alleviate the stress during this time would be greatly appreciated,” the GoFundMe said.
