Woman accused of stabbing father of her child in West Nashville
The man was dropped off at the hospital with a severe stab wound to the neck.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is recovering from a serious stab wound and the mother of his child is facing charges following an incident on Tuesday night in West Nashville.
According to the arrest affidavit, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were called to the Richland Hills Apartments at about 11:48 p.m. on Tuesday for a reported stabbing. The officers failed to locate a victim when they were notified that a patient was dropped off at TriStar Centennial Medical Center with stab wounds.
The affidavit states that several officers stayed at the apartment complex while two went to Centennial to speak with the medical staff and possibly the patient. They learned the man was suffering from a laceration to the left side of his neck, dangerously close to an artery, according to the affidavit.
After discovering the man was dropped off in an Acura sedan, word was sent to the officers at the scene, who quickly located the car parked, and still running, in front of an apartment building, the affidavit states. The officers reported finding a trail of blood that led them to an apartment in that building.
Once at the apartment, the officers spoke with the victim’s sister, who was holding his baby, and then found 27-year-old Alexus Gordon, who was later determined to be the mother of the child.
After several attempts to get the real story from Gordon, who denied any wrongdoing, the sister confirmed to the officers that she and Gordon took the victim to the hospital, the affidavit states. During the drive to Centennial, she said Gordon was heard saying, “I stabbed his a-- right in the neck,” according to the officers’ report.
Due to the nature of man’s wounds, and the lack of injuries of any kind to Gordon, the sister, or the baby, the officers determined Gordon as the instigator and took her into custody.
Gordon was booked early Wednesday morning and charged with attempted criminal homicide and tampering with evidence. She is being held on a $275,000 bond.
The officers reported that the baby’s father is expected to recover from his injuries.
