KSP said the suspect was shooting at officers responding to a physical domestic violence complaint.
CROFTON, KY. (WSMV) - A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Christian County, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
Early Sunday morning, the Kentucky State Police was requested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to investigate after a shooting happened around 12:30 a.m.
The CCSO was responding to a physical domestic violence complaint on Clark Store Sinking Fork Road in Crofton. When officers arrived, the suspect, 39-year-old Patrick J. Martinez, began shooting at law enforcement.
Deputies returned fire and struck the suspect.
Martinez died at the scene, KSP said.
“To protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation, it is KSP’s standard operating procedure not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts have been gathered,” KSP said. “Timelines to complete investigations vary based on the complexity of the case.”
