SHACKLE ISLAND, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Sumner County home was destroyed after a car caught fire while parked in the garage, according to Smokey Barn News (SBN).

SBN reported that fire crews responded to a home on New Shackle Island Road Tuesday at around noon after a Jeep caught fire while parked in a garage.

Shackle Island Fire Chief Ron Wills said the homeowner had just got back home, parked the vehicle in the garage and was taking groceries inside when the fire started. When the homeowner went back out to the garage to move the vehicle, they found the engine on fire and the flames spreading quickly, SBN said.

The fire prompted multiple agencies to respond, but the fire spread to the home and caused significant damage. Wills said that once the fire had reached the attic, it was very hard to contain.

SBN reported that the home was declared a total loss by fire personnel. Fire crews worked the fire for almost eight hours Wills said.

Shackle Island Fire Department, Number One Volunteer Fire Department, White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, Cotton Town Fire Department, Millersville Fire Department, Highland Volunteer Fire Department and Oak Grove Fire Department all responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported in the fire, SBN said
