CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A former soldier at Fort Campbell was sentenced this week after admitting to the sexual abuse of a minor back in 2019.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, 41-year-old Donald Collins was sentenced to 87 months in prison and will have to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, and one count of attempted transfer of obscene material to some under 16 years old.

In December 2019, Collins and an underage girl began exchanging sexually explicit messages and images on Facebook. The girl spent the night at his house with him and his teenage daughter on New Year’s Eve of that year, and Collins admitted to sexually abusing the girl the next morning, both at the house and while he drove her back home to Fort Campbell.

The two continued to exchange sexually explicit messages on Facebook for some time after the sleepover, according to court documents.

Collins will be on supervised release for 10 years upon his release from prison, the US Attorney’s Office said.
