Investigation underway into threats made against Kentucky schools

FRANKLIN, Ky. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway after threats were made against Simpson County Schools, according to the Kentucky State Police.

KSP said they received a call about a school threat from the suicide hotline at about 2 p.m. on Friday.

Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department and KSP responded to all schools in Simpson County to investigate.

All schools were placed on a “soft lockdown” for the rest of the school day. All students were released at normal time on Friday.

Currently, there are indications that the threats are credible, KSP said.

KSP said there will be an increased law enforcement presence on school campuses until further notice as a precaution.
