African Street Festival back for 42nd year

The AACA said the festival grows each year and now draws over 50,000 people to it.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The 42nd Annual African Street Festival is underway this weekend.

The event, hosted by the African American Cultural Alliance (AACA), features live music, artistic performances, food vendors and a marketplace with over 130 vendors. It is free and open to the public.

The AACA said the festival grows each year and now draws over 50,000 people to it.

“We’re proud to host a festival that serves as a bridge from Africa to Nashville,” said Jeneene Blackman, CEO of AACA. “This event provides an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to celebrate African and African-American culture while fostering unity and creativity.”

The festival began Friday and will continue through Saturday and Sunday. It is being held at Hadley Lillard Park which is located at 1037 28th Avenue North in Nashville.
