Man accused of killing girlfriend, initially claimed she shot herself, police say
The suspect initially told officers the victim shot herself but MNPD said the investigation showed otherwise.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend in their West Nashville apartment last week, according to Metro Nashville police.
Police said 26-year-old Jack Becker was arrested Tuesday evening for a criminal homicide charge from Friday’s fatal shooting of 30-year-old Autumn Joiner.
The shooting occurred inside the couple’s Hillmeade Court apartment. Police said Becker initially claimed that Joiner shot herself.
“Becker called 911 to report that Joiner had shot herself in the head while they were in bed. He later changed his story and said that his finger slipped into the trigger guard of a pistol causing it to discharge,” MNPD said.
However, MNPD said its investigation shows otherwise and that the victim was unhappy living with him.
Becker is jailed in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
