Community meeting set for sidewalk project near GEODIS Park
The sidewalk addition will also include a Metro Water Service water main project and stormwater upgrades, according to NDOT.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nashville Department of Transportation (NDOT) will host a community meeting Monday night about a sidewalk project for a street close to GEODIS Park.
Residents of Allison Place, which does not have a sidewalk, are invited to attend. The street is often used as a shortcut by Nashville SC fans on gamedays.
The sidewalk addition will also include a Metro Water Service water main project and stormwater upgrades, according to NDOT.
Monday night’s meeting at The Fairgrounds includes a 90 percent design update, NDOT said. Construction is expected to begin next Spring.
According to Metro’s Sidewalk Project Viewer, Pillow Street is also due for a sidewalk project, however it is on hold. It is just a few blocks north of Allison Place and also sees droves of soccer fans on gamedays at GEODIS Park.
”Some of the streets here have sidewalks and it’s wonderful and then you’ll hit a street like Pillow Street and there isn’t one,” Casey Overly, who lives on Pillow Street said. “So it’s a real issue especially on busy days, on weekends, people are just walking in the middle of the street.”
Monday night’s community meeting for residents of Allison Place starts at 6:30 p.m.
