Teen charged after 1 killed, 1 critically injured in Lewis County shooting
Agents identified a juvenile as the individual responsible for the shooting, the TBI said.
HOHENWALD, Tenn. (WSMV) – An investigation into a fatal shooting in Hohenwald in Lewis County has resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old.
On April 12, at the request of District Attorney General Hans Schwendimann, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents responded to a residence at 341 Mt. View Road in Hohenwald on a report that two people had been shot. When agents arrived on scene, they found 68-year-old Van Franklin Cates dead. A female in the home was also injured and was transported to a Nashville hospital, where she remains in critical condition, according to authorities.
During the course of the investigation, agents identified a juvenile as the individual responsible for the shooting, the TBI said.
The unidentified juvenile is now being held on criminal homicide charges and was transported by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office to a juvenile holding facility.
