Driver arrested after hitting person on Lime scooter near Downtown Nashville
Police said the driver who hit the man on the scooter seemed impaired.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 73-year-old Memphis man is facing charges after he hit a man on a Lime scooter which left him hospitalized with critical injuries, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police said 23-year-old Leonard John Patrick Roecker of Muskego, Wisconsin, was leaving the Listening Room Café and pulled out onto 4th Avenue North when a pickup truck, driven by 73-year-old Randolph Allen Ford, hit him.
Ford, of Memphis, was allegedly speeding when he hit Roecker, a witness told police. After hitting Roekcer, police said Ford drove to the left side of the roadway where he crossed over a sidewalk and hit a utility pole and railroad ties in a parking lot.
Metro Police said Ford was not wearing a seatbelt and hit his head when he hit the pole. While responding to officers, police said Ford seemed impaired.
Ford was taken to Vanderbilt where they drew a blood sample for drug and alcohol analysis, police said.
Ford was discharged and released from the hospital on Sunday and was arrested. He was booked on a $15,000 bond.
