Police continue search for suspects in deadly Antioch shooting
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Police released new information Tuesday regarding the shooting of a man in Antioch in early April
According to police, 62-year-old Nathan Barnett was found dead on April 5th in the front passenger seat of a car with multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday night. The car was parked at the Apollo Apartments complex on Richard Road.
Police said in a tweet Tuesday that the suspects fled in a Chevy Impala.
Detectives have learned that Barnett arrived at the complex with a 17-year-old boy and parked next to another vehicle. Two people emerged from that adjacent vehicle and joined Barnett and the juvenile in their vehicle.
Police said several shot were fired a few moments later, then one suspect ran away while the other drove away. The juvenile exited the vehicle and also ran away but returned to retrieve an item from the car. He then ran over to a dumpster and threw the item in. Detectives later found the item to be two pounds of marijuana.
The boy’s mother drove him to the Smyrna Police Department later that night where he was charged in juvenile court with tampering with evidence and felony marijuana possession.
Detectives are still looking for the other two individuals involved in Barnett’s murder. Anyone with information is asked to call 615-742-7463.
