NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -- Vanderbilt University announced Thursday that a student who was studying abroad has tested positive for COVID-19, and is undergoing treatment.

The Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan White announced the diagnosis shortly after 1PM Thursday, following Governor Lee's announcement of a Williamson county resident testing positive.

The Vanderbilt student did not return to Nashville, and is in their hometown.

The University says they are working with public health officials and the CDC to take appropriate precautions, and says that the students will resume their normal class schedules when they return from spring break March 9th.
