(Meredith) -- Southwest Airlines announced Thursday it would provide employees with free COVID-19 vaccines once they are made widely available in the US.

According to Reuters, the vaccines are paid for by the federal government and the administrative fees will be covered for Southwest employees under its health plans.

Southwest said its employees are strongly encouraged to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
