What seemed like a normal plumbing job turned out to be anything but after a plumber making repairs at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church discovered a large amount of cash and checks stashed behind a wall.

According to KHOU, the money may be related to $600,000 dollars that went missing from the church back in 2014. However, that's only speculation. It has not been confirmed if this money and the missing $600,000 are one in the same.

Lakewood Church sent a statement to KHOU, telling the news organization:

“Recently, while repair work was being done at Lakewood Church, an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found. Lakewood immediately notified the Houston Police Department and is assisting them with their investigation. Lakewood has no further comment at this time.”

The plumber, who had called into the radio show "The Morning Bullpen" said there was "a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile."

After they removed the tile, the plumber said they found the cash and checks and turned it in after contacting his supervisor. The police and church officials were then alerted and a new investigation was launched.
