(KUSA/CNN/Meredith) – A Colorado mother died from COVID-19 shortly after giving birth to twins.

Alicia Santana Rodgers had given birth to twin girls three weeks before her death. She also had an eight-year-old and a 16-month-old.

Rodgers’ family said she chose not to get vaccinated while pregnant with the twins, but she was planning on getting the vaccine after giving birth.

Rodgers and her family had recently relocated to Colorado from New Mexico. Now that Rodgers has died, her husband plans to relocate to New Mexico with their daughters to be closer to family.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help pay for funeral expenses and to relocate back to New Mexico.
