(Meredith) – Target is offering a special deal for parents who need to replace their kids' car seats.
The retailer is kicking off its annual car seat trade-in event at stores nationwide Monday. Customers who trade in their old car seats will receive a 20 percent off coupon toward a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear -- including playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers.
Target said it will accept and recycle all types of car seats, even if they are expired or damaged.
The event starts on April 22 in honor of Earth Day and runs until May 4.
Here’s how the trade-in works:
When you get to the store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box located near Guest Services, and a team member there will give you your coupon.
Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off, and the coupon is eligible through May 11, 2019. It can be used online or in-store.
Target will then give the old car seats to Waste Management, who will recycle the parts to create new things like grocery carts, plastic buckets and construction materials.
