NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -- Parents, you may be counting down the days for your kids to head back to school, but your kids probably aren't.
Here are some helpful tips to get your children ready to return to their classrooms.
Tax-free weekend is coming up at the end of July, from 12:01AM on the 26th though the 28th at 11:59PM. Make sure to get your list prepared and have your kids pitch in when you go shopping.
Items eligible for the Tennessee sales tax holiday include clothing for $100.00 or less per item, computers valued at or below $1,500, and school and art supplies costing $100.00 or less per item.
For more information on eligible items, visit the Tennessee Department of Revenue's website.
It's very important to get your children back on a good sleep schedule. These last few months, they've been staying up late, but now it's time to get them back into a routine.
Adjust their bedtime by moving it closer to their school bedtime the week before school starts. Two nights before school starts, have them go to sleep at their normal school bedtime.
It's also a good idea to check out your child's schedule. Find out when their lunchtime is. If it's a little later, maybe pack them an extra snack. It's not a bad idea to have a portable laptop and some basic supplies in your car so your kids can get a jump start on their homework when you pick them up.
Also, make sure to set up a comfortable place for them to study that is clean and well-lit.
