A man died at the Nashville jail after over the weekend after being arrested in connection with drug charges.
Scott Haines was taken into custody after officers responded to a home on Earhart Road for a medical call on Saturday night. Investigators reportedly found drugs and other paraphernalia inside the home.
An ambulance arrived at the house, but Haines reportedly refused medical treatment.
While he was waiting outside, Haines allegedly hit an officer with his shoulder.
Police then took Haines to booking on charges of drug possession, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
When he arrived at the jail, the staff was reportedly trying to take Haines' handcuffs off when he allegedly began fighting back. During the altercation, Haines became unresponsive.
Haines was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The autopsy report shows that Haines did not have any physical injuries.
Officials are still waiting for the toxicology report to learn if Haines had any illegal substances in his system.
Haines' death remains under investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
