SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) - Two people were arrested on Sunday after they allegedly stole property from a Rutherford County church, according to the sheriff’s office.
Shannon Pugh, 41, and Candice Brewer, 31, were charged with burglary and theft after they allegedly stole from Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Cripple Creek Loop Road near Smyrna.
Rutherford County Sheriff Det. Joseph Duncan said a church member saw property in a wooded area near the back of the church and another member saw a person in the area.
Deputies said Pugh and Brewer, who are believed to be homeless, fled the area after running through thick growth behind the church.
Brewer was located later on Newsome Road after being spotted by citizens in the area. Pugh was found later in the afternoon.
Pugh was charged with burglary, theft up to $1,000, evading arrest, criminal impersonation and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. He has a court appearance set for July 29.

Both are being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.
