NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Police say a 17-year-old boy shot his mother in the head and then turned the gun on himself in north Nashville.

Officers responded to the home in the 3500 block of Chesapeake Drive just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A family member called 911 and said Tiffany Redmon was shot by her son, Jshaun Redmon.

Officers said they found the teen dead in the yard across the street from his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

His mother was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Wednesday would have been her 38th birthday.

Police say a teen shot his mother in the head at this home in north Nashville.

Detectives are still conducting interviews about the shooting and are working to determine the motive.

A neighbor who told News4 he used to cut the teen's hair every week said he saw him lying in the street on Tuesday night. He said he wish he knew what he was going through.

"I mean, he was cool, he was real quiet, he just kept to himself ... he would walk around with his little dog right there ... He never really bothered nobody, nothing like that," he said.
