A Green Hills man was pistol-whipped and kidnapped from his own home. Police believe the brazen crime may be connected to another in Sylvan Park.
Police tell News4 a Green Hills man was coming home late Tuesday night when he pulled into his garage, opened his car door and was pistol-whipped.
Police say two men with guns tried to steal the man’s car but couldn’t, so the suspects kidnapped the man. The victim was put into the back of the suspect’s car where three other men were waiting. The suspects then took off down Hillsboro Pike, stopping at a Regions Bank.
Police say the victim was forced to pull as much money as he could from the ATM. The suspects took the cash and took off down Hillsboro Pike, leaving the victim behind.
“Hitting close to home, I hope it’s kind of isolated thing,” neighbor Jim Love said. “They’re getting more brazen all the time, and it just depends on how desperate they are.”
A brazen crime police say is likely connected to another one.
Just 5 miles north in Sylvan Park, a pregnant woman parked on the road in front of her home, got out and was approached by a man who asked her for her phone. The woman said no and the man charged her. That’s when the woman threw her purse and ran into her home.
“That’s awful, especially since it’s right next door,” Sylvan Park resident Edward Wiseman said.
Police are investigating a connection because the crimes happened hours apart Tuesday night, and in both crimes, a dark Nissan Altima or Maxima was involved. The victim in Green Hills described it as a matte color.
Two of the suspects are described as young black males in their late teens to early 20s. One of the men was described as tall with a slim build and curly hair. The other was about 6 feet tall with a flat top haircut.
