Nashville Vice Mayor runoff election to be Sept. 6

The runoff election for Nashville Vice Mayor has been set by the Davidson County Election Commission.

Early voting for the runoff election between Acting Vice Mayor Sheri Weiner and At-Large Councilman Jim Shulman will be facing off since neither got a majority of the vote in last week’s election begins Friday, Aug. 17.

The voting sites across Davidson County will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6.

It seems like there has been an election in Nashville every month this year.

Millions of dollars have been spent by the election commission this year between the transit vote, special mayor election, run-off elections and the primary elections.

According to Councilman Freddie O’Connell, next month’s run-off election will add at least another $750,000 to the total cost for elections.

He’s working on new laws that would change how the city conducts elections.
