Police are searching for the person responsible for a fatal shooting Thursday night in east Nashville.
The shooting happened on Thomas Avenue, an area off of Gallatin Pike near East Trinity Lane, at about 11 p.m.
Terrance Ross, 33, parked in a lot near a duplex, exited his vehicle and was approached by a gunman who shot him in the hip area, said police.
Ross was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Friday morning.
Investigators said the victim was visiting a friend's apartment in the area, and he had an argument with the shooter in the parking lot.
Channel 4 talked to a witness, James Elliot, who called 911. He said the sound of gunfire in the neighborhood is common.
"It's really frustrating living in this neighborhood. It's always something like this. Every time I turn around, I can look out of my front door and see blue lights for something or another. It's happened all my life," Elliot said.
Several other witnesses gave officers a description of a vehicle that sped away. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
