NASHVILLE (WSMV) - Investigators say a man is in critical condition after an overnight shooting on Allenwood Drive in East Nashville.

According to Metro Police, officers responded to the 2500 block just before 11:30 p.m. Monday and found an 18-year-old black male victim. Preliminary investigation showed the victim was in a fight with some unknown suspects.

Witnesses said they heard tires squealing from a car and several gunshots. The victim was found in his car with gunshot wounds to his leg and groin and to his arm.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Description of the suspects were not immediately given, but investigators believe they got away in a dark, larger-sized SUV with tinted windows.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
